Bradford Council for Mosques supports the call for the ban of EDL March
All communities in Bradford must unite to say that EDL or other organisations of its type are not wanted in Bradford. We remain united in our determination to keep racist and fascists’ elements out of neighbourhoods and our city.
EDL is committed to disrupting the peace and harmony of our neighbourhoods, towns and cities. They do this through false propaganda, encouraging and inciting racial and religious hatred and by setting communities against each other. We must not allow ourselves to be drawn into their web of lies and hatred.
Bradford Council for Mosques is working closely with Bradford Council, West Yorkshire Police, and Bradford District Faith Forum and voluntary organisations in the city to make people aware of EDL tactics and to encourage all Bradfordians to show a cold shoulder to EDL. As a city we cannot fall prey to EDL propaganda and give strength to EDL agenda.
EDL politics is divisive committed to isolating and targeting a section of the community. In Bradford the Muslim community is a target for their campaign of hatred. However, this is a mischievous ploy on their part. In reality, EDL’s real target are all decent and law abiding citizens who refuse to be drawn into their agenda of racism and religious hatred.
Khadim Hussain, the president of Bradford Council for Mosques said “ Some people may think that EDL is only targeting Muslims and they therefore they should not get involved. EDL is against everyone who does not fit into their misguided and false definition of what constitutes Britishness. This time its Muslim; next time it will be someone else. Therefore, let us work together-Muslim, Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, Jews, humanists- to say to EDL : We are not interested in your type of politics.”
